Lake Mead

Lake Mead is a man-made lake located in the Mojave Desert in Nevada and Arizona. It was created by the construction of the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River, which was completed in 1936. With a surface area of 247 square miles, Lake Mead is the largest reservoir in the United States by volume and the 16th largest man-made lake in the world. It is a popular destination for water sports, fishing, and recreation, and is managed by the National Park Service as part of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
